The MUSE for the Elegance and Exuberance scarves is my great-grandmother, Evelyn. Known to most everyone as Nana, I feel fortunate to have vivid memories of her as she lived to be 98 years old. To me, Nana will always be an independent, card-playing, Jeopardy-loving, baker extraordinaire who would welcome us with a delightful gasp of “for land’s sakes” when we arrived at her home for our weekly visits.
While she was born in 1896, Nana's life story is one of an incredibly modern woman. Widowed in her 40s with three children to raise, she continued to own and successfully operate the millinery she started with my great-grandfather and was ultimately joined by her son, my grandfather, in the business. Ever elegant and stylish down to the last detail, it is fitting that two of Nana’s handkerchiefs provided the inspiration for the beautiful, rich florals of the Elegance and Exuberance scarves. Designed in her honor, these two scarves evoke thoughts of those who are generous in spirit and embrace life to the fullest.
