London Calling: Packing for A Quick Getaway!

With just one free week between the last day of school and the start of summer camp, we decided to make a quick getaway to London. One of my best friends, Ana, and her beautiful young family, live there. So, we couldn’t resist a short trip to catch up, spend time together, and have some girly fun to kick-off the summer. We went into the trip without any specific plans other than enjoying each other’s company. But, given our track record of good times, it was guaranteed that we would have some fabulous, spontaneous adventures while together!

Wanting to not waste a minute of our time in London, we decided to pack carry-on only. Maybe it’s the years of extensive work travel that drilled this into me, but I always try to pack carry-on only whenever I can. The key is to pack items that can be mixed-and-matched and dressed up or down to accommodate a variety of environments and temps – especially in London in June!

Below is break down of what I packed – and yes, it all fit perfectly. 😊 As you can see, I focused on classic basics…items that can take you most anywhere, from a museum, to shopping, to a playground with the kids, to dinner out. With a quick switch of your shoes and a freshly styled DESEDA scarf you can tie these items together to create several chic, yet totally different, looks. I knew that the three scarves I selected would add the pop + polish needed to elevate these basics and make me feel well styled and confident wherever our time in London took us!

The 15 Items in My Carry-On:
- 2 Blazers
- 2 Pairs of Jeans (one blue, one white)
- 4 Tops: Long Sleeve Striped Shirt, Colorful Lightweight Sweater, White Tank Top, White Silk Cami
- 1 Black Linen Jumpsuit
- 3 Pairs of Shoes: White Sneaker, Gladiator Sandals, Strappy Neutral Heels
- 3 DESEDA Scarfs: Waves, Pictures of You, and Monarchs + Milkweed (all packed neatly in their DESEDA-To-Go black linen pochettes)

Look #1 w/ the Waves Scarf:

NB - My fav blazers are from @veronicabeard. So classic yet modern. Love.

Look #2 w/ the Monarchs + Milkweed Scarf:

NB - This look can be dressed up or dressed down. Just switch the shoes!

Look #3 w/ the Pictures of You scarf:

NB - I call this look the "bridge" because it bridges together several options. Chose the blue or white jeans depending on the vibe you are going for. If it's warm you can take off the light sweater and go with just the tank. If it gets cold you could always pop the navy blazer on top too!

Look #4 w/ the Monarchs + Milkweed Scarf:

NB: Night out look. Perfect look for dinner + drinks.
Oh! And if it gets chilly, just throw the light blue blazer on top.

The three days in London with our friends were so special. Many beautiful experiences shared and memories created. We feel so lucky to have had such a fantastic start to the summer!

For any of you headed to London soon, I have to share my recommendations for visits to: @petershamnurseries Richmond for divine food and the fulfillment of all of your English garden dreams; @vamuseum for the exquisite #diordesignerofdreams exhibit; and @the_berkeley for the completely indulgent #pretaporteaxdior Champagne tea. All are unforgettable experiences! xo
